The Way2Go Youth Activator programme features experienced professionals giving youth aged 13 – 18 a chance to try out one or more of six activities:
The programme takes place over three weeks from 4 January through to 25 January. The schedule repeats each week, with the same sessions and starting times.

Victory Square
Monday 4, 11 and 18 January
Cost: Free
Sessions are designed to get you involved in some fun team sports. Play soccer and touch, and try out the traditional Maori sport Ki-o-Rahi, a great combination of ball skills, running and dodging. No booking required, just turn up on the day and enjoy yourself.
1-4PM
Jack Robbins Stadium
Tuesday 5, 12 and 19 January
Cost: $5 per session
Learn some Basketball tricks and skills with professional basketball players from the Nelson Giants and then have a go at using them in a game. Numbers are limited to 12 people per 1 hour session so get in quick!
Vertical Limits
Wednesdays 6, 13 and 20 January
Cost: $5 per session
Come down to the climbing walls and learn how to climb. After a brief introduction and safety check, Dean and the team at Vertical Limits will send you on your way. Challenge yourself to climb a section, come back next week and try an even trickier one! You are welcome to stay on longer than the session time and spend time exploring by yourself. Numbers are limited to 15 per 1 hour session.
The New Hub
Thursday 7, 14 and 21 January
Cost: $2 for the 2 hour session
NMIT gym
Friday 8, 15 and 22 January
Cost: $5 per session
Run by trained fitness consultants, these sessions will help you find out what kind of weight training works for you, and how to do it safely. Sessions will use a combination of free weights and body weight training. Numbers are limited to 10 per 1 hour session.
Meet at the Church Steps
Saturday 9, 16 and 23 January
Cost: $5 per session.
Join Dave of Biking Nelson for a bike trip that explores some of Nelson’s best tracks and trails. Dave will offer expert advice on riding technique, and guide you through some awesome tracks. Bring your own bike and helmet. Please ensure that your bike is in good working condition. Limit is 20 per 2 hour session.
Youth can sign up for as many sessions as they like subject to space availability. Places are limited and must be booked in advance; the programme is unable to offer a drop in service.
There are sessions just for males and females, and sessions for different age groups.
The process is to register first, and then you will receive confirmation that you have secured a space. In your confirmation you'll be notified of the final charge and how you can pay online.
