Tasman Nelson Environment Awards officially open

Nominations for the Tasman Nelson Environment Awards officially open tomorrow, 15 August.

Being held jointly by Nelson City and Tasman District Councils this year,  the Awards are to recognise people and organisations in our community who have demonstrated the use of good environmental practice, enhancement and sustainability.

Nominations are invited until October 2 and can be made in the following nine categories:

  • Individuals and Families (not for profit)
  • Community Groups/Neighbourhood (not for profit)
  • Rural
  • Commercial
  • Schools
  • Urban Design
  • Best Use of Renewable Energy
  • Heritage - built heritage and sites
  • Heritage - events and culture

Two new categories have been added this year, Urban Design and Best Use of Renewable Energy.

Prizes are awarded by sponsors and include $1000 for each section, apart from the Heritage sections with $500 each and nominations are welcomed from new and previous entrants.
