Waste education

Waste Education Services (WES) is contracted by Nelson City Council and Tasman District Council to provide free advice to businesses on how to reduce waste and save money.  WES provides extensive on-line resources enabling businesses to access support for waste minimisation, whether its identifying service providers or advice on how to conduct a waste audit.  Free visits are also available from trained consultants where appropriate.

Free Sustainable Business Advisory Service

A free service is now available to help Nelson and Tasman businesses reduce their costs - by reducing energy use, water consumption, waste water production and solid waste. Basic assessments take up to two hours. More complex businesses may qualify for up to 20 hours assistance.

Reduce your business costs

The Nelson Regional EDA, NCC, TDC and Ministry of the Environment are providing a free service to Nelson and Tasman businesses.

The service is free, independent, and non-binding, offering practical advice to help keep your business operating more efficiently. David Francis, the Sustainable Business Advisor, will work with you to reduce your energy use, water consumption, waste water production, and solid waste production, reducing business costs.

Who is eligible

All Nelson and Tasman businesses may apply for assistance.

How it works

Basic assessments take up to 2 hours. More complex businesses may qualify for up to 20 hours assistance.
