Senior Parking Pass scheme

The annual pass allows seniors to park in the CBD for one hour per day without the payment of any fee. The annual pass costs $20 and will be price adjusted every two years in line with the consumer price index.

How to qualify

To qualify you must be a Nelson City Council resident, be 65 years of age or over and have a valid driver's licence. However, the permit is vehicle specific and the following limitations apply:

  1. It cannot be used on any restricted parking (eg loading zones or P10s).
  2. It cannot be used anywhere on Trafalgar Street .

All interested seniors can come to the Customer Service counter and fill out an application form, and they will be issued with a permit. Please remember to bring the following with you:

  1. Proof you are a Nelson City resident (a rates, phone or power bill will do).
  2. Proof you are 65 years of age or older.
  3. Proof of a valid drivers licence.
  4. Details of your vehicle’s make, colour and registration.

While this allows seniors access to the CBD for an hour a day without further costs please note that vehicles parked in excess of this will receive an infringement notice.
