As a unitary authority Council is responsible for allocation of freshwater within its area. Key to allocating and managing freshwater is measuring river flow and rainfall.
Monitoring stations are located at representative sites throughout the Nelson area. As Nelson City comprises only a small part of the wider Tasman Bay area, it makes sense that Nelson City Council river and rainfall data is presented alongside Tasman District Council data so full extent of Tasman Bay is displayed. Accordingly Nelson river and rainfall data can be found on the Tasman District Council website.
