Nelson City Council is exploring options for increased levels of residential intensification as one method of providing for future growth. The Nelson Urban Growth Strategy has identified support for this approach. Council is looking at options that will enable more people to live in existing areas so that residential land and services are used more efficiently.
To help us do this Council is undertaking a survey of residents who currently live in higher density housing (defined here as properties with a land area less than 350m²). This will help determine how best to match policy with the needs of occupants.
What Council is interested in is:
Higher density housing refers to medium to high density housing with 15 or more dwellings per hectare.
You are welcome to answer any or all questions in the survey – no response is mandatory. Information collected will remain confidential to the Council and individual responses will not be identified when results of the survey are reported.
A range of people identified as living in higher density housing have already received a copy of the survey in the mail.
However, any person living in higher density housing (properties with a land area less than 350m2) can participate online in the 5 - 10 minute survey by clicking here.
You can also download the survey in PDF, fill it out, and post it (PDF @ 135KB) (137KB PDF).
