Building and Planning » Property and land use » Property ownership » Residential Berm Planting

Residents are reminded that any planting, including shrubs and trees, within the grass berm between the edge of footpath and the kerb, (shown in red above) is not allowed.
We only allow some ornamental ground cover and crushed stone for safety and maintenance reasons.
While some tree plantings are permitted within this area, approval has to be granted by Council. Residents can make a written request to the Technical Services Department who will advise on the suitability of trees proposed.
Landscape planting on the inside berm (shown in green above) between the property boundary and the back of the footpath is allowed. However, no rocks are allowed and all planting must be such that it does not cause visibility problems for the adjacent driveways or grow to encroach over the footpath. These berm areas contain services that require maintenance and easy access at all times is required.
