NCPAF Big Idea Fund

The Big Idea Fund is part of the annual NCPAF funding programme. It's purpose is to enable NCPAF to invest in a larger project to the amount of $10,000 that will significantly improve the opportunities for young people to access physical activities in Nelson. These guidelines are also available by download (15KB PDF).

Criteria

The Big Idea Fund has the same criteria as the NCAPF fund but has the following additional critera:

  • The project significantly increases participation in physical activity, sport or recreation in your organisation or community
  • Involves volunteers as key part of delivering the project
  • Develops new, innovative and exciting ideas
  • Has a plan for sustaining the project after the funding
  • Is well-planned and thought out
  • There is learning from the project that can be shared with others
  • Willing to be supported/mentored by Sport Tasman

Eligibility and guidance

  1. The project must have a physical activity component targeting young people
  2. The applicant must be a not-for-profit organization
  3. Robust systems must be in place to account for the organisation's funds
  4. The applicant is in compliance with the obligations of any previous NCPAF grant funding
  5. The applicant is not receiving funding from SPARC via their National Sports Body for the same project
  6. Funding cannot be used to solely fund a sporting event but a project can include an event, for example a showcase, community fun day, etc
  7. Although we are asking for new project ideas, they need to be well-thought out and have some evidence of both need for the project and links to related successful practice. For example, you might want to develop an idea from another region or country that would fulfil a need you have identified in your organisation or community
  8. The project design must include strong success indicators and ways to monitor and evaluate the project outcomes. It is recommended that baseline data is gathered as a way to measure progress.
