The names of the peaks that make up the stunning mountain silhouette across Tasman Bay are featured in a panorama image that you can download. The image above is only part of the spectacular vista, but the full image is on the downloadable PDF below.
The panorama is the same as a stainless steel plaque to be included in the Wakefield Quay development later in 2010, installed near the yacht club. It will include the names of the mountains and hills and some information on their origin, as well as their height.
The idea came when an Atawhai resident asked Council how she could get information on the name of the range she watched the sun slip behind each night. Council staff tracked down a panorama image created by Garry Holz, now retired from the Department of Conservation. He and the Department have generously given permission for it to be reproduced for everyone to enjoy.
