About

Situated in Marsden Valley Road, this cemetery was established in 1952 and opened in 1956. The site is beautifully planted and has excellent views out over Tasman Bay.

Maps at the entry mark the various sections including the Returned Services Association area. A memorial rose walk leads to a flagpole as a central feature of this area. Contact the Nelson RSA branch for more information.

Burial records for all Nelson cemeteries can be accessed on the Council's website using the search phrase "cemeteries database."  A detailed map of plot layouts can also be downloaded if you are searching for anyone in particular.

A special garden of native trees was planted on Arbour day in 1955 by Stoke schoolchildren as a special area to scatter ashes. A memorial book records the names of those who chose to be one with nature in this way.

The information boards also give some suggested walks in the area, and some heritage and notable trees that are well worth admiring.
