Marina People It took owner Dick Morris nine years to build Irene, the result of a dream he developed while living on England’s eastern coast watching all the sails and ships go by. Irene was built in Essex, near London (her port of registration) on three different sites before being launched at North Fambridge on the River Crouch about 20 miles north of the River Thames, where Dick christened here Irene in memory of his mother. Built of ferro cement Dick focussed on building a strong boat, built for safety and practicality rather than speed and show.…
