AboutGracing the entrance to the Elma Turner Library, the Knowledge Mural is based on rock carvings by early civilisations including Māori. Artist Chris Finlayson created the work in 1990, compromising a little to include some writing in the work, including the Māori word matauranga (knowledge).
The Elma Turner Library has books dating from the first library in Nelson in their New Zealand Heritage room.
The Knowledge Mural is located at the Elma Turner Library, 27 Halifax Street.
