Nelson is well served with services within the province and also to get the visitor into and out of the area.

(phone 0800 737 000 www.airnewzealand.co.nz) departs Nelson for Blenheim, Westport, Hokitika, Christchurch, Mt Cook, Timaru, Queenstown, Dunedin and Invercargill, and to Wellington and points North.
Regional air charter and transport
(phone 0800 872 476 and www.tranzscenic.co.nz) travels the length of New Zealand but the Nelson traveller needs to go to either Picton or Kaikoura to pick it up.
Operates the Aratere, Arahura, and Kaitaki (phone 0800 802 802, www.interislander.co.nz) ferrying cars and passengers across Cook Strait, between Picton (South Island) and Wellington (North Island). Ferry crossings take approximately three hours. The Kaitaki ship has room for up to 1600 passengers and is the largest ferry in New Zealand waters.
Four return sailings a day (except Christmas Day) between Wellington and Picton, more frequent during the summer. With a sailing time of just over three hours the Bluebridge service offers comfortable lounge areas, café style food, free movies and warm Kiwi hospitality.
