Founders Book Fair

Nearly $100,000 raised for Founders

Thousands of book lovers flocked to the Council-owned facility over nine days in June 2010 for the annual Founders Book Fair. Patrons snapped up bargains collected over the past year, showing once again that the popularity of the event never wanes, and neither does the enthusiasm of the army of volunteers that organises the massive event.

The money raised will be spent on projects such as new public toilets, an updated book sorting room and team room for staff and volunteers, and a vastly improved display and storage area for the collection of farm machinery at the Park.

Book fair ins and outs

Founders accept donations of books large or small throughout the year, simply drop off your pre loved books into the Windmill any day of the week, 10am -4.30pm,  all year.

A group of 12 dedicated volunteers spend two days a week all year categorising well over 50 tonnes of books preparing for the Book Fair. A further 20 volunteers join the team to stock up the tables and co-ordinate the sales during the nine day event  held over Queen’s birthday every year.

Books are sorted into 50 book categories covering  classics, humour, romance, paperbacks, hardbacks, magazines, comics, records and board games. Funds raised go towards capital projects with Founders Heritage Park such as upgrading the Energy Centre.
