A combined plan

The Nelson Resource Management Plan (NRMP) is a combined District (land use) and Regional (coastal, land disturbance and freshwater) Plan. The Nelson Air Quality Plan is a separate document.

The Nelson Resource Management Plan became operative, in part, on 1 September, 2004. The Regional Coastal Plan became operative on 7 March 2005 (apart from those provisions relating to ‘Port Noise’). The Port Noise provisions are currently the subject of a Variation to the Plan. The Freshwater Plan became fully operative on 5 June 2007. The entire plan will be made operative once the Port Noise variation is completed.

This is not the end of the matter though. The NRMP is constantly evolving to meet changing needs, demands and resources.
