Nelson City and Tasman District Councils in conjunction with the Health Sponsorship Council are extending their popular adult cycling courses throughout the Nelson and Tasman region. Bicycle Nelson Bays (BNB) runs a regional initiative for cyclists who want to upskill or regain confidence riding a bike.
‘Upcycle!’ is designed to boost the confidence of cyclists by teaching skills for on-road riding and negotiating intersections and roundabouts. The aim is to extend the distances people are able to ride and to promote regular cycling as a healthy and practical alternative means of transport.
Funding from Nelson Marlborough District Health Board and support from Nelson City and Tasman District Councils enabled Upcycle to extend its programme to include Richmond.
Social rides are also open to the public.
