Posted by Nelson City Council on 22 February 2012
Nelson City Council has appointed Peter Olorenshaw as the representative for Environmental Sustainability Issues to the Nelson Regional Transport Committee.
Three people were nominated for the role, and the Council noted the high quality of the nominations during the discussion at yesterday’s meeting. Mr Olorenshaw was chosen as the most suitable person for the job, based on his knowledge of sustainability issues and his demonstrated understanding of strategic transport issues in Nelson. He works as an architect with a particular passion for sustainable design. He is also the convener of Nelsust, a local advocacy group that supports sustainable transport solutions for the Nelson region.
Each region is required to have a Regional Transport Committee under the Land Transport Management Act. Mr Olorenshaw will take over the role effective immediately.
