Council will need to prioritise work in light of flood event
Posted by Nelson City Council on 6 January 2012
The recent flooding and slips which affected Nelson will have an impact on Council’s work programme for the remainder of this financial year, which ends on 30 June.
Mayor Aldo Miccio says the ongoing effects arising from the recent emergency could be extensive, but Council won’t be in a position to ascertain that until the recovery plans are ready.
“But it is likely that Council work and priorities will change as a result of the emergency and we’ll know more about that in a month or so.”
The Recovery Centre is operating out of Nelson City Council and is currently preparing the Recovery Plan which will map out the emergency related priorities for Council.
“We need to work around that and then look at the remainder of the work programme” Mayor Miccio says.
