Forty-five submissions were received on the proposed amendment to the Nelson Speed Limit Bylaw – 22 on the proposal to reduce the speed limit on a length of Main Road Stoke and part of Salisbury Road from 80kph to 50kph, and 23 on reducing the speed limit on Locking Street from 50kph to 30kph. Several people asked to speak to the Council about the proposal, and are being invited to the Council meeting of 12 August.

The draft Reserves Management Plan sets out the vision and goals for the future management of Rutherford and Trafalgar Parks. Twenty-three submissions were received, and sixteen people asked to speak at the public hearing, held on 20 July. The hearing panel will then make recommendations for changes to the draft Plan. Council is proposing to combine two current bylaws, the “Navigation and Safety Bylaw 2002” and the “Recreational Marina Bylaw 2005”.
Council received 10 submissions on the proposed new bylaw by the close of submissions on 1 July.
A staff report to the Council meeting of 12 August will recommend a Hearing Panel of Councillors is convened to hear submissions and make recommendations on any changes to the Bylaw to the Council. The date of hearing has yet to be confirmed. Click here to read more about it.

The Nelson City and Tasman District Councils have jointly released a draft plan allowing for the residential development of Nelson South and Richmond East. Find out more about the Nelson South/Richmond East Draft Structure Plan.
Council is required to have a RPS under the Resource Management Act. Its purpose is to give an overview of the main resource management issues in our area and outline how we will achieve sustainable management of natural and physical resources in Nelson.
