Duties

There are certain duties/services that a local authority must provide. Legislation by Central Government dictates/controls the activities of local authorities. The prime legislation is the Local Government Acts of 1974 and 2002.

Powers

The functions and responsibilities of the Council are undertaken in accordance with, or controlled by, a large number of Acts of Parliament.
