A Bylaw of the Nelson City Council made in pursuance of powers contained within the Local Government Act 1974, the Local Government Act 2002, the Bylaws Act 1910, and any other authority enabling the Council in that behalf.
On the coming into effect of this bylaw Bylaw no 204 being amendment 1/2002 to the Nelson City Council Consolidated Bylaw 1992 shall be revoked.
means the territory contained within the City of Nelson as defined in Part 2 of schedule 2 to the Local Government Act 2002.
includes any street, or private street which provides for vehicular access to the property in question.
means Rural Address Property Identification system under which street numbers (also called emergency services numbers) are allocated to rural properties. The system determines the number of a property by dividing by 10 the distance which the property is from the start of the road on which it is situated. Odd numbers are allocated to properties on the left hand side of the road and even numbers to properties on the right hand side.
Where any person fails to display the street number so allocated by the Council, and continues such failure after being advised by the Council of the requirements of this bylaw, the Council may take such steps as it deems appropriate and necessary to cause the number to be displayed and shall recover any costs incurred in doing so as a debt from the owner or occupier of the property concerned.
The foregoing bylaw was duly made by the Nelson City Council at the Ordinary Meeting of the Council held on the ......day of ................... 2009.
