Suburban Bus Lines (SBL) operate regular bus services to Stoke and Richmond. These services operate seven days a week via Tahunanui and Monday to Friday via Waimea Road and Bishopdale. The main terminus is at 27 Bridge Street, Nelson. The contact phone number is +64 3 548 3290.

THE BUS runs on four main routes around the City from Monday to Saturday:
The main city terminus is located in Wakatu Square — between Ajax Avenue and Bridge Street. Stops are marked along the routes but drivers will collect anyone who waves them down as long as it is safe to do so.

The Late Late Bus is a night transport service that is safe and affordable between Nelson and Richmond. The service runs on Friday and Saturday nights from 10.00pm leaving Trafalgar Street on the hour, with the last service departing at 3.15am and leaving McDonalds around 3.20am (no midnight service from Nelson and no 12.30am service from Richmond).
The outbound service travels via Tahunanui and stops as required at designated, well-lit stops. The inbound service leaves Richmond on the half hour and travels into the city via Bishopdale. On average 60 people use the service each weekend with some weekends peaking at well over 100 users depending on what is on in the city.
