For these remaining building consent charges, the invoice is required to be paid at the time the building consent is issued:

 

 

Pre-paid fixed charge building consents

The following consents have a fixed charge and must be paid at the time the application is submitted.

Note:

  1. For pre-paid fixed charge building consents any additional processing or information required over 1 hour will be charged at $80.00/hour
  2. Additional inspections will be $100.00 each and invoiced before a Code Compliance Certificate is issued.

All other building consents

All other building consents will include the following charges AND the invoice is required to be paid at the time the building consent is issued:

  • Administration fees (Consents Administrator)
  • Fixed levies
  • Processing charges (dependent on the category of the building)
  • Section 37 check/Project Information Memorandum (PIM)
  • Site inspections (Building inspectors)
  • Administration fee (Inspection administrators)
  • Code Compliance Certificate

Building Inspections Fees

The expected number of site inspections will be assessed at consent stage and charged as part of the consent cost. The inspections will be identified as part of the Building Consent documentation.

Any additional inspections that are required to monitor compliance with the NZ Building Code will be charged as additional costs and separately invoiced prior to issuing the Code Compliance Certificate. 

Section 37 check / NRMP

An administration fee of $75.00 will be charged for each Section 37 check. Time taken to review and process the report will be charged at an hourly rate of $80.00 for a residential activity and $100.00 per hour for commercial and all other activities. The Section 37 fee is included only for pre-paid fixed charge building consents.

 

Inspections Administration Fee

Building inspectors' site inspections are on a fixed charge for the initial scheduled inspections indentified in the building consent.

Building inspectors - all: each inspection is charged out at $100.00 for the initial inspection and then an additional $100.00 per hour or part/of for extra time onsite, recording inspection findings, filing, quality control and reviewing documentation within the office at Council. $100 each

Inspections administration fee (per consent): $150 flat fee   

Code Compliance Certificates (CCC)

  • Category 1 Buildings: $150.00
  • Category 2 Buildings: $200.00
  • Category 3 Buildings: $200.00 each and cost recovery basis for staff at the appropriate charge-out rate

An additional invoice will be generated prior to issuing the CCC if additional inspections, administration and processing were carried out after the building consent was issued and during the inspection and certification process. Council will require full payment prior to issuing a CCC.

Notice to Fix (NTF)

Administration fee of $50.00 plus the recovery of the Building Consent Officer or Building Inspectors’ time at the hourly rates to process and issue the NTF.

Registration of documents with Land Information New Zealand (LINZ)

  • Section 73 Building Act 2004: $150.00
  • Section 75 Building Act 2004: $210.00
  • Removal of either Section 73 or 75 Building Act 2004: $125.00  

Certificate of Acceptance (COA)

Unauthorised Building Works Reports (UBWR)

Council will no longer assess and approve. Information will be placed on site file only. $50.00 administration fee payable on submission at Council.  

Certificate of Public Use (for public buildings)

Administration fee of $100.00, plus recovery of staff time at an hourly rate of $100.00 or part thereof.  

Determinations, lapsed and old consents (pre BA2004)

Administration fee of $100.00, plus recovery of staff time at an hourly rate of $100.00 or part thereof.
