• From the Library home page go to Online Resources/ Research databases or Subject list/Arts, Music & Literature online resources
• If you are using one of our APNK computers (computers 1-10) click onto the Nelson Public Libraries online resources link and follow the steps above.
• If you are accessing the database from home you will need your library barcode for access.

How to use Books and Authors

Using Books & Authors you can access your next great read via:

• Author Search - type the name of your author in the search box, change the pull down search type to Author, press enter, select your author, and select ‘writings’ to find titles).
• Title and Series Search - type the name of your title/series in the search box, change the pull down search type to the relevant type, press enter and select from the list of titles.
• Keyword Search – type your term or phrase in the search box, change the pull down search type to Keyword, press enter and a list of titles will appear that have your term or phrase in the author, title or subject guides. Select a title to see the entry for that book.
• "If you like..." Search - either:
  Select read-a-likes from the upper left hand corner of a selected title
  OR, use the Read Alike Wizard: Search for a title of a book you have enjoyed.  Once you select a title from the results list, you will be provided with a list of terms associated with the title you chose. You may then select any or all of the terms displayed to find other books that share some or all of your selected terms. Your results list will be sorted by the number of relevant terms matched.
• Author, Title Browse - type in beginning or part of a name or title and select from the list.
• Genre Browse – select from the listed genres and sub-genres to get lists of titles.
• Expert Picks – Select from the many links to title lists complied by librarians and other experts.
• Awards Search – Select from Awards - includes New Zealand Award Winners.
• Who, What, When, Where:
  Select the Who, What, Where, When option
  - Enter your search terms from lists provided
  - Select Age Level; whether Fiction or Non-Fiction
  - Adjust till you get an overlap in search results
  - Click on ‘Total Overlapping Results‘
  - Order your results if many items retrieved
  - Select item

When you have found a title search our catalogue for that title.
