Environment » Air quality » Approved burners » Council approved wood burners
If you have an existing lawfully established wood burner or other enclosed burner (i.e. one with a door), you can replace it with one of the solid fuel burners listed below. These have been authorised to be installed under rule AQr.25 of the Council's Air Quality Plan.
Note: If you are building a new home or do not currently have an enclosed burner, you cannot install the burners on this list. However, you can install especially low emission pellet burners. These ultra-low emission pellet burners are authorised to be installed under rule AQr.26 of Nelson City Council's Air Quality Plan.
The burners below are grouped under the name of the company that applied to authorise them. That company is, therefore, legally responsible for ensuring conditions of authorisation are met. It does not promote any particular burner or agency involved with manufacturing or marketing them. To purchase a burner it is suggested you contact local retailers.
