Airshed B2 is located on the coastal fan between the foothills of the Barnicoat Range and the Waimea Inlet. Land use mainly comprises of residential housing developed between the 1960’s and the present day.
The area also contains a number of main roads which include Main Rd Stoke and Nayland Rd. The area is prone to elevated PM10 resulting from the density of houses, many with solid fuel heaters and traffic on local roads.
While air quality monitoring has been undertaken in Airshed B2 the results closely follow those of Airshed B1 which is now used to predict compliance in Airshed B2.
