Adopted 28 May

After the Governance Committee reviewed both submissions that were received and adopted the draft bylaw with no changes, Council formally adopted it at their meeting on 28 May.

Council resolved to amend the Reserves Bylaw No 211 to enable it to have better control over the use of motor vehicles on public reserves.

Proposed changes

The proposed amendment consisted of two changes to the bylaws being:

  1. That a new sub-clause 7.2 be inserted within the bylaw, to read:
“No person shall drive, ride or park any motor vehicle on any area of any reserve except on those areas developed and/or set aside specifically for such purpose or where indicated by signs or markings that motor vehicles are permitted, or at the direction or with the permission of any authorised officer.”

    And:
  2. That a new Sub-clause 14.2 be inserted within the bylaw, to read:
“Any person who breaches any restriction or control imposed, pursuant to Clause 7 of this bylaw, shall be liable to a fine not exceeding $300.00.”
